That ‘Thing’

Updated: Jul 8, 2020

So lockdown eh? At first, it was fun. Getting up early for a thirty-minute (wink wink) run, then looking out the window at the sun, while reading that novel you’ve never had time to get around to like War and Peace, Les Misérables, the Bible even, although we may need more weeks of lockdown to get around to that one. The break from regular life has been nice, I think we can all agree, but working for Tune Trucks has some incredible moments, and it’s sad to think we’ve missed out on some of those this year. It’s strange to think that a half-naked Spartan on the bonnet of a Tune Truck can become normal, but it does during the TT season.

The TT season is full of events that provide the relief everyone needs from the daily grind of life. Some tunes over the top of an event that brings people together from all walks of life, for the single purpose of enjoyment in some form is something we very much look forward to getting back to.

At Tune Trucks, we understand that the 9 to 5 life can be hard. Sure, weekends are great, but every now and then you need something to look forward to. That ‘thing’ can take many forms.

For some that thing is running. Whether it’s a short distance, where you’re being doused in paint as you run along to Arianna Grande blasting from the speakers, or you’re running a full marathon being propelled forward by nothing but the darkness that resides deep down in the soul of anyone that chooses to run 26.2 miles, we will be there to cheer you on. These events are literally designed for you to run away from your problems unless you have flat feet like me, then that particular problem tends to catch you up pretty quick.

Cardiff Half Marathon

For some it’s running through swamp water, climbing a rope slathered in swamp water and jumping over a bed of flames to really set that swamp water into crusty patches that will inevitably take less swampy water to clean off. This pursuit has been perfectly modelled by our very own Mike…

Spartan Race

For some, it’s simply being surrounded by people who think the same way you do, that enjoy the same music you do, that enjoy the same freedoms you do. Festivals, parades, marches. A gathering of people that enjoy each other’s company is special and should always be a good enough reason to celebrate.

Whatever your ‘thing’ is, we’re there to make you forget the 9 to 5, whether it’s the paperwork, the pipes that won’t fit together or the boss that needs your assistance in drawing out a map from his arse to his elbow, our job is to make you forget about yours and we can’t wait to get back to doing it.
